| Jim Webster co-founded Capital Royalty in 2003. Prior to joining Capital Royalty, Mr. Webster was President and CEO of Drug Royalty Corporation Inc., a public company that was a leader in the global healthcare Royalty business by providing unique financing solutions to health-related organizations. Drug Royalty was the first public healthcare Royalty investment company in the world. In 2001, it had revenues of C$21 million. The company was sold to a private investor (Inwest) in April 2002 for C$133 million in cash.
In 1993, Mr. Webster joined Drug Royalty at its inception as a public company, when it had a market capitalization of C$15 million and no revenue. Over a nine-year period, Drug Royalty invested C$101 million. His international and public-company experience includes: raising capital, business development, negotiations, strategic initiatives, creative deal structures and investor relations.
From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Webster was a Vice-President of a diversified public industrial products company, Indal Limited, part of the RTZ Group, with revenue of C$1 billion. Between 1987 and 1989 he was Executive Vice-President and General Manager of one of the company's business units. In 1986-87, he was Vice-President, Corporate Development of Indal Limited where he was in involved with acquisitions and joint venture negotiations. Mr. Webster joined Indal Limited in 1980.
Mr. Webster is a Chartered Accountant and earned an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario (Dean's Honor List) in 1980. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto in 1975. In June 2003, Mr. Webster completed the examinations for the CFA designation. He has published two articles on royalty-based financing in Canadian Treasurer.
